Grupo Axe Capoeira Kansas City
Axe Capoeira started up in Kansas City in 1998, with our first classes being taught at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Soon after, our international group founder, Mestre Marcos Barrao, oversaw our first belt ceremony. Now after all these years, Axe Capoeira Kansas City has expanded to become the best capoeira and Brazilian performance group in the Kansas City area. We perform capoeira and traditional Brazilian dances regularly at ethnic festivals, First Fridays, holiday events, and private parties.
Our classes have expanded to include something for students of all ages, sizes, and skill levels. We offer kids classes regularly after school for children ages five and up. Adult beginners are encouraged to attend our beginners capoeira classes where you will be introduced to capoeira at a steady but challenging pace. Your first class is always free, and there are no contracts to sign.
Please come to class expecting to be challenged both physically and mentally. Capoeira class consists of a medium intensity warm up, followed by stretches to improve flexibility, and lastly focus of basic to advanced capoeira movements and kicks.
What to bring to class:
