Guest of honor: Mestre Barrão

 

Marcos "Barrão" Da Silva is a Brazilian Capoeira Mestre and founder of Grupo Axé Capoeira. Mestre Barrão began Grupo Axé Capoeira officially in 1982 in Vancouver and since has had schools established around the world.  Mestre Barrão will be travelling to Kansas City from Recife, Brazil to be with us.

 


Special Guest: Contra-Mestre Paraiba

 

Contra-Mestre Paraiba Leads a successful, 2x award winning school of Grupo Axé Capoeira in Toronto, Canada.  At age 14, Contra-Mestre Paraiba decided to dedicate his life to Capoeira. For three years, under the guidance of Mestre Barrão in Vancouver, Canada, Paraiba set a strong foundation for his Capoeira before moving back to Ontario to  begin his journey into the role of leadership.  Every year Contra- Mestre Paraiba travels the world to share his Capoeira and to do his part in growing Grupo Axé Capoeira.

 

Special Guest: Professor Mussum

 

With roots deep, this Nordestino will travel to us from Recife, Brazil.  Professor Mussum began Capoeira in 1999 with Grupo Axé Capoeira and over the past 11 years has trained directly under Mestre Barrão - upon Mestre's return to Brazil.  Professor Mussum leads Grupo Axé Capoeira Torre.  Professor Mussum was awarded 1st place in 2013 and 3rd place in 2015 when competing in Grupo Axé            Capoeira tournaments.  Professor Mussum will represent Grupo Axé Capoeira in Azerbaijan at the World Capoeira Federation Competition in May 2018.

Special Guest: Professor Parafuso

 

Professor Parafuso leads Grupo Axé Capoeira Kazakhstan.  Professor Parafuso has traveled throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil giving workshops, attending Batizados and Competing in Capoeira competitions.  Last year, Professor Parafuso was awarded his Professor belt in Macau, China - Parabéns!!!  Professor Parafuso is also highly trained in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been successful in this arena as well.
