Professora Aurinha was born and raised in Olinda, Brazil. She spent most of her days dancing and was especially drawn to the dance of northeastern Brazil called
Frevo. In 1996, along with Mestre Barrão of Grupo Axé Capoeira, Professora Aurinha moved to Vancouver, Canada. It was then that Professora Aurinha began to infuse the beautiful art of
Brazilian dance into the North American culture under the leadership of Mestre Barrão. With great thanks to Professora Aurinha, Grupo Axé Capoeira now presents to the world the beautiful
depth and the cultural riches that Northeastern Brazil has to offer through the wonderful art of music and Dance.
